Writers Theatre

This project involved the construction of a new live theatre in downtown Glencoe. The result was a LEED Silver building with green roofs and state-of-the-art lighting and sound.

Ford City Mall

This project involved maintaining, updating, and testing the fire alarm system for the entire mall. A gas valve explosion occurred here back in 2005, and we repaired and replaced all damaged feeds in electric vaults, and we replaced all parking lot lighting feeds. More recently, the electrical vaults flooded, and we had to repair and replace all damaged cabling, disconnect switches, and breakers as needed on an emergency basis. We had a 24-hour crews running to restore the power. We have also done many store tenant buildouts as well as an electrical maintenance required by the mall. We also maintain the existing exterior camera security system as well as any additions to their security system.

Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants

Sharlen services many local Lettuce Entertain You restaurants for repairs and new installation of equipment. Sharlen has installed POS wiring, equipment, and setup. We take service calls, and we have done work at restaurants such as Wildfire, Shaw’s Crab House, Reel Club, Tru, Maggiano’s, Big Bowl, and many others.

Byline Banks

Sharlen performed miscellaneous repairs and new lighting installations, in addition to service calls and scheduled renovations.

Roosevelt Collections

This project involved a complete plaza (outdoor park) renovation, including color-changing LED lighting throughout, new escalators, power for fountain pumps and lighting, and power for pond pumps, lighting, and heaters. We also completed multiple retail tenant buildouts, including Haberdash, Bovello, Fleet Feet, and multiple retail tenant services from 200 amps to 1,200 amps. Tenant buildouts included power and lighting throughout, lighting relay panels, fire alarm systems, and power for mechanical equipment. We also furnished and installed all heat trace cabling for plumbing lines in the parking garage.

Local 150 Operators

Local 150’s Heavy Equipment Operator Training School is situated on 300-plus acres in Wilmington, IL, about 50 miles south of Chicago. The center boasts 342,000 square feet of space housing an indoor training area, 30 classrooms, an auditorium, and much more. The indoor training arena is large enough to allow 18 pieces of equipment to operate simultaneously. The 200-seat auditorium provides a venue to hold various classes and equipment demonstrations. Network cabling is provided to allow students to download presentations onto their laptop computers. Screens on each side of the room enhance demonstrations of small equipment components. The electrical portion of the project also included a dual generator system for emergency power generation.

UIC: Battery/UPS

Sharlen general contracted this project for UIC, working direct for UIC. This project was completed in the winter of 2014. Project was a replacement of 3 500KW UPSs with all new batteries. The UPSs were not allowed to be shut down during the project. Sharlen had to keep existing UPSs up and running and install new without any power disturbance. This was a highly-critical project. Sharlen also managed all HVAC, concrete, drywall, and painting work.

British School

A complete, brand new school was the scope of this project, which included comed service, new switchgear, programmable lighting controls throughout the building, gymnasium power and control wiring for motorized backboards, curtains, and bleachers, a complete fire alarm system, and power for all kitchen equipment. The roof of the school is a park open to the public, which include site lighting and a power connection for possible rooftop events.

Chicago State University

This project involved a complete remodel of third-floor of pharmacy building, and it included 2 new lecture halls with new lighting, lighting/dimming controls, and power at lecture hall table tops. The project also included lighting controls and dimming controls integrated with the A/V system and partition dividers. New variable frequency drives for A/C unit and air-handling units were also added, and a complete fire alarm system was installed.
